Trash ID

Trash ID is a searchable image database of products seemingly at the end of their life cycle. The database provides some identification like; the product name, type, creation date, manufacturer, and other patterns that make help form a description of the product.

This database aims to help inform users and stakeholders alike about the importance of understanding the life-cycle of the products they produce. On the other hand, it serves as a platform to educate companies also on the need to involve environmental parameters in their product designs. Not as a means to increase profits, but to extend the life-cycle of their products beyond a single life span.

So, on a fundamental level, Trash ID speaks to the importance of multiple reuses and remanufacturing after the end-of-life stage. Designing products with multiple life cycles show an exemplary design approach for enhancing the sustainability of a product.
